The Indianhead's Left Nostril....
I may move this to the Computer Forum, but in the mean time...

I've been a Microsoft Outlook (NOT Outlook Express) user for a gazillion years. But it seems I'm having more and more problems with it, and exploring options.

Do any of you use e-mail dedicated software? If so, what is it and are you happy with it?

Windows 7, IE

Thanks

Mozilla Thunderbird. Just be aware that at first, until it learns better, it wants to stuff most of your email into the junk bucket.

maybe switch to Gmail? Used Thunderbird and loved it. But now we kind of got migrated to IOS and found that outside of that email, Gmail and the whole Chrome/google thing is very handy and works across all platforms
I have discovered the Google Drive/Mail/Photos/etc is rather nice

It may be an alternative worth investigating

but for email, we have the Gmail, the local internet provider mail and that is it.

the local provider will go away soon...

gmail is portable

and I wont even discuss the oldies like hotmail or yahoo mail which I do not use...well one yahoo account for internet site sign in's

The Indianhead's Left Nostril....
Update on this:

As background, my recent search was motivated by Outlook hanging up in the Send/Receive mode. It would lock up my PC, and I'd have to reboot in order to use the computer. I ultimately figured I had one or more corrupted files in the software, and I figured I'd ask around and see if there was some other program that would better suit my needs, seeing as how I was likely going to have to reload Outlook anyway.

I did try Thunderbird. Doesn't have the e-mail management options that Outlook has, required/desired for my use.

Ended up running a Microsoft repair utility that fixed Outlook. In the mean time, ran another program that showed my hard drive was failing.

In process of replacing the hard drive.

Thanks all for the suggestions. smile

Yes typically a hardware or internet issue.
