I would like to replace my porch ceiling fixture with one with a photocell so that I can leave it on when away without having it on during the day.

I do not want a motion detector, just a photocell. The dusk to dawn adapters don't work because the current fixture is a globe fixture and light from the bulb reflects off the globe and triggers the photocell to turn the bulb off, and it cycles (blinks).

There are a lot of wall fixtures out there that meet this requirement but this has to be a ceiling fixture and I can't find one.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Tom

If you can't find a suitable ceiling mount, photocell controlled fixture, could you use the fixture of your choice and add a remote photocell to the circuit to control it?

I did that years ago on a house that had a deep overhang on the front door.

A second option would be to replace the hopefully single gang switch with a timer style switch. Check your connections as these switches often need a neutral wire in the j-box. The sophisticated timers will even track the sunrise/sunset for you.

Bob.
