Got this link the other day about a 'big boy toy' RC plane. Remarkable control.

Indeed, one thing to do those acrobatics at 100 ft, quite another a few feet off the ground. Very impressive.

A far cry from the RC models I used to fly back in 1954/55, a far cry indeed!!

Yes, that's a pretty large plane.

Oh, I wish I could see Youtube.... This the fellow with the huge B-29? Doing inverted passes at a couple feet above the field? Or one of the big turbine models?

THere are some amazing RC pilots out there. I'm not one of'em. Just an enthusiastic stick-basher.

J....sorry you can't see it, here's a grab...

At the point of the pic, it's practically standing still
on it's tail.
He does stand still on the tail at several spots,
along with violent spins, rolls, etc., in addition to
taking off straight up from the picture position.

In order to do what he does, the plane is highly overpowered
for it's size, about 6 to 8 foot wingspan.....

and as you can see from the pic, HUGE control surfaces,
and the rudder will pivot close to 90*....

He gets plenty of practice, working for Futaba !!

Ah, 3D aerobatics, it's called. Some of the guys in my club dabble in it, and some past members were excellent!

It's magical to watch, if somewhat inelegant. One keeps looking up to see where the strings are tied off to.

Many aerobatic models now have sufficient power-to-weight to do this. The largest I've seen was a 42% scale model with a 157cc twin cylinder gasoline 2 cycle engine.... Awesome!
