There were (still are) decorative trim pieces between the marlite sheets, should they be caulked in the shower area?

If so would now be the right time, I have a coat of primer on or after the paint is on?

thank you for all your help on this little project of mine again.

Liz,
Your job is holding up with latex paint? That's great. I have the oil Zinsser primer on the walls already (and I scuffed them up first) but am not sure what kind of paint to put over that.

This is a second bathroom with a tub/shower. It doesn't get a lot of use but still I don't want the paint sliding off either!

Thanks for your input here.

My experience a few years ago with painting Formica was that an oil primer stayed on it but latex top coat dulled badly with occasional wipe down with a damp rag.

I just want to get the job finished but am really confused as to what kind of paint to use in the tub\shower area.

I can put up most anything that is washable in the rest of the room, right? It all has been scuffed and primed with oil Zinsser. I have a satin sheen in mind for the rest of the walls.

Thanks.

Glidden Semi-Gloss Latex and holding up just great! And I occasionally wash all surfaces (including walls) with straight bleach. Because that's what I do in bathrooms and kitchens wink

You're wasting money by using straight bleach but that's the least of the problem.

"Depends on the concentration of the bleach you inhaled. A little whiff won't do harm. Lengthy exposure to high concentration bleach can damage the airway and lungs quite severely."

A mixture between 4-1 to 8-1 will do all you want it to do.
Many people over use bleach by using it full strength and 50/50 which is still way too high a concentrate.

Sodium hypochlorite is a dangerous chemical.

edit: Maybe even 10-1.

Yes, but you don't need anywhere near full strength.

Mold is fed very nicely by straight bleach. Dilute it to kill mold.
