Anybody know why at swap shops and flea markets sell used/like new Craftsman chainsaws having a big X scratched out the name on the sticker?

I was at the swap shop and flea market this weekend and I saw about a hundred Craftsman chainsaws 16”, 18” & 20” for sale. The average price was about $60-$80.

The one thing they all had in common was that an X was scratched through the Craftsman stickers. I didn’t buy one.

Tonight I tried to google why they had the X scratch. I read that the same red models had recalls for possible fire issues from the gas lines.

So where did the scratches come from? Is that the recalled ones?

Store Returns sold by the pallet at wholesale.

Most may have been used for a storm and returned "No questions" .

One of the things that killed Sears.
