Hayward/AO Smith SP1510-z-1-xeftc motor with timer.
Had it set up with it in the run mode and used the on/off switch built into the electrical post. All was fine. Went on vacation and set the motor timer to 6 hrs on every day. Came home and it was running in the 6 hr mode. Shut it off to go back in normal mode via the post on/off but now it wont run for more than a minute. Starts fine sounds ok but shuts off within a minute. Pump switch in run mode.

What happens after shutdown ?

Wait for XX time and retry ?

Overheating ?

Filter clogged enough to cause backpressure
and overheat pump ?

During the minnit it runs, are you getting decent flow
from pump to pool ?

If overheating, allowing time to cool will allow restart.

Is it a capacitor start motor ?

May be running in start mode, but not shifting to 'run' mode.

Yes and no to all. Runs fine for the minute shuts off and I can start it right up again for another 30 seconds then again etc. Plenty of flow and pressure. Running in run mode you can hear the click to start and after its time a click and she stops. Pool is starting to get cloudy so its crunch time.

Sounds like a "start / run" switch is bad.

{switch inside motor)

Nearby motor-man can fix you up (if you've got one)

Otherwise pool place will sell you another one frown

I've replaced start switches in motors for work machines in the past. But those wouldn't let it run for the brief time. It shook or sparked the motor almost instantly. But I will take it apart tonight and investigate.

Took pump off line and removed the timer unit. Cleaned but found nothing wrong anywhere. Reassembled and the same thing however I could hear a faint beep sound. With power on to the post I flicked the switch from run to off then back to run and it started and continued to run. Probably nothing wrong after all just a programming glitch with the operator!!!
