I need to replace the cartridge on my Delta shower faucet. An easy fix is turning to be difficult. When I try to remove the bonnet holding the cartridge in, it won't budge. Turning it counterclockwise without success. Sprayed penetrating oil this morning and hope that works. I have hard water and that is not helping matters. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you very much!

Try some Lime-Away, or vinegar. That should help dissolve the hard water build up.

I assume you have tried a strap wrench?? If it was never removed and is old, you may have to resort to a pipe wrench, then get a new one. I usually use plumbers grease on all threads when I take faucets apart, makes it much easier the next time.

Thanks for the advice and views. The bonnet is off (used a large crescent wrench) as the penetrating oil worked its magic. I bought lime away Otw home and did not need to use it. Thanks again.
