What shade/finish/etc would this be called? The lighter portion that is.

I would call it Golden Oak, but my wife would probably disagree and ponder over which of about a dozen other choices it is.

Or maybe red oak, but it looks like oak anyway.
See This.

Looks like my red oak h/w floor with plain old poly, no stain.
Normal ware-n-tear, sunlight, has oranged mine a bit over the years.

Have fun....notnew....

I'll second Golden Oak or very close. I'm sure the panel maker had a completely different name.

Go to Home Despot or similar... They will have color charts you can take home to compare. Make sure the samples are on the same species of wood that you're showing. I assume that's Oak?

I think "golden oak" is simply a decorator's name, not a variety of oak. Here's a list of oak varieties, not a "golden" to be found.

Black oak
Bur oak
Cherrybark oak
Laurel oak
Live oak
Oregon white oak
Overcup oak
Post oak
Pin oak
Northern red oak
Scarlet oak
Shumard oak
Southern red oak
Swamp chestnut oak
Water oak
White oak
Willow oak

Actually, "Golden Oak" is a species (Quercus alnifolia). But I think it's more commonly used as a stain color name.
