That's on the stock portion, Boz. The other money is back.
Stock fluctuates, as they say.

I see you take an active interest in how GM runs their
marketing details, comrade Boz. I didn't figure you for a Socialist, Boz. Maybe.....when it suits.

I do when it's bailout money. Stock portion or not, they still owe the taxpayers... I note you didn't say anything about the subsidies of the highly popular(sarc) Volt receives.

Sorry, but the "Book of Jim" is very wrong about this one. GM would have survived bankruptcy just fine without the debt we allowed them.

The accounting books.
The more years these jobs are still there the more it's worth.

In terms of wages paid out since and related industries,
the GM bailout was a bargain. I'm just taking about plain accounting. I think the principle is wrong, but the results were weirdly good. Indirectly it shows how useless the current corporate financing model is fo growing an economy.

Another accounting trick?

GM Ramps Up Risky Subprime Auto Loans To Drive Sales

Looks like they're going to be following housing.

Oooh, a special stink-pot for GM.

Guess what: sub-prime for cars is up across the boards:
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/365387/20120720/subprime-auto-loans-increase-securities.htm

Reposessing a car is a lot easier, faster and has a high
yield than houses. It takes a special blindness to pretend it's a housing crisis again. Even more hysterical to say
that GM will usher in another crisis on this. Repo of
cars is as old as the hills..

Just charge enough interest to pay the duds off.
It's fun cross-checking those smear campaigns.

BTW, this is a deflationary indicator for the whole economy.

I'll be waiting to see if GM will ever dig itself out, or ever fully repays it's bailout.

With interest rates at all time lows, how do they expect to recover the cost of repos? There is already a glut of out-leases on the market.

In this economy, who is buying 5 figure used cars? The ex-Dodge, ex-Honda dealership on our corner is having trouble moving their used lot, and has now taken on Suzuki... (they also have a motor sports wing that is just hanging on.

Deflation? Better look back at fuel and food prices with this historic drought. Oh that's right, we don't count food and energy in the Cost of Living.

You are saying deflationary things and inflationary things
in the same post.

"Deflation? Better look back at fuel and food prices"

Um....fuel is going up now, after going down, down....
you seem to have a memory problem. Pop quiz:
was gas at $4 before? Mid 2008....4.40.
Hmmm...

I say if it does that again the economy and gas go down.
Meanwhile, gas matters less on my car. Wife just got
a 45mpg diesel. What gas price?

Selective attention.

" Oh that's right, we don't count food and energy in the Cost of Living. "

Might as well tell you for the umpteenth time:
they are NOT in the monthly, they ARE in the yearly.
Selective attention again?

Is there in/defaltion? About 3% inflation overall.
I'm talking deflationary pressure, not much money
down on Main Street. I see the gold-buying stores
all over, and collector's stuff at the consignment
at a fraction of peak price. I see a little inflation
leading to a lot of lost sales and a lot of stuff cheap
at the Job Lot store. I get a lot of groceries there now.

Now, back to your special "news" sources. ;-)
