Does it overfill or does it stop sometime after agitation starts?

I'm not a pro, but overfilling could be caused by a bad water level sensor not sending a signal to the valve or by a bad valve. I used to have problems with sediment particles getting into the solenoid valve but corrected that by installing a whole house sediment filter.

Hi,

How do you get the water to stop? That can help split up the possible trouble makers...
http://www.applianceaid.com/washing-machine-overfilling.php

That model has used 2 different valve...

Water inlet valve Manufacturer Number 22003384

Water inlet valve Manufacturer Number 22004333

And 2 different pressure switchs (water level controls )...

Pressure Switch Manufacturer Number 22004069

Pressure switch Manufacturer Number 22003963

Jeff i can turn the water temp to cold only and push the timer knob in and it stops filling. When i turn it to hot and push the timer knob in it doesn't stop filling. When i put the water leavel to small on cold it works fine it fills then starts to adgitate and work properly. When i put the water selector to warm or hot it fills to where the small load water level should be and begines to adgitate and keeps filling with water... btw on hot or cold it keeps filling after i push the timer knob in to shut the machine off.

Thanks for the help

Chris

Hot 1/2 of the fill valve has failed and is sticking open = new fill valve time.

Series of the washer ( first 2 digits of the serial # )...may have to call and ask which is for yours.

You can always try dissembling and cleaning it first. Applying 110V and hearing a click would be a simple bench check. Might save some $$.

Not -normally- a good idea, a copy: we do not recommend taking these valves apart and cleaning them as they usually will leak if you do this and you also take the risk of the valve sticking in the open position and flooding your house. The diaphragms in these valve swell over time and become deteriorated.
