So we went to Lowes to check a few saws out. Of course they were out of the PC one but at least had the display model to look at.

After picking up the two different Skil models then the PC one I felt the PC felt better in my hands. The front desk looked to see if any of the closer stores had it but then said we could buy it for the sales price and then just pick it up when it got to the store!

I know what you guys are saying about the good blades. I bought a new Irwin blade for my compound saw and it made a huge difference.

Any particular brand blade? I bought the Irwin when they went on sale last time.

In my case, brand don't matter provided its carbide tiped.
12-24 tooth for the I don't care blade.
I don't recall how many teeth are on my other blade, maybe 50?? I know it wasn't cheep, but it's worked well for many years.

HTH...notnew...

If you are going to have a "once in a while use" I'd have a 40 tooth carbide blade and use it for everything [wood].

I know the more teeth the smoother the cut. I was going to buy one blade for quick rough cuts (getting rid of scrap wood ect.) and then a blade or two for fine cutting with less chance of chip/splintering.

Nothing wrong with that thinking. Using a 40 tooth for getting rid of rough lumber and scrap is foolish.

I was just thinking of occasional use of a few cuts and not bothering to change blades each time.

That what I have. I use the saw maybe once or twice a year..but still have several blades. 24 teeth...120 teeth...and a few in between. Usually purchased for a specific project at the time....but good to just have on hand.
