My North Shore of Lake Superior condo complex bid...

GOT IT!

Work starts 2nd week of May, and won't finish until October. Fifty-seven units with various needs for: entry doors, sliding patio doors, windows, Andersen window glazing, trim & siding repair, caulking, and ???. Two units get complete kitchen and bath remodels as well. (Two owners have said, "Al, we've seen what you do. Just surprise us. We won't be back 'till next fall.")

Things 're lookin' up!

On the SW Michigan front....

After three days of gray and rain, woke up to sunshine and 51 degrees. ~*HAPPYDANCING*~

Pull'n into my driveway and seeing the docks in!

Drove down from Grand Marais early this morning for a 8:00 meeting with one of my suppliers in Duluth, then from there to Minneapolis for a 1:00 with a custom cabinet shop. Then back up to the nostril by 4-ish.

See'n that my guys had put my docks in while I've been outta town was a good thing. Now I can bring one of the 'toons over!

Riding through town today... All the lilacs are in bloom. Smellin' sweet, on a sunny 54 degree day.

Saw 2 turkey vultures flying into the neighbourhood the other evening... What cool birds! We're supposed to be outside their range, but these fellows (3 in previous years...) have been here for the last 3 years anyway...

I don't recall if I took that photo last year or the year before.... But it was a dead calm "temperature inversion" day, the sort where I can hear the oil tanker engines at idle in the bay.... I was punchin' paper in the back yard with my pellet rifle when I heard this mighty "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM" and crashing in the spruce trees behind my house. First thought was "A moose!". It continued a while, on and off, and finally I went exploring.

I'd gotten about 75' down the trail behind my shed when "Whoomp, whoomp *crash*", a turkey vulture overflew me (about 10' over my head!) and perched in a tree not far away.... Holey Bejebus, that's a big bird!!!

Back to the house to get a camera, I caught that shot at 10x zoom from my patio table... The three spent the day making a weird grunting call, and thumping from roost to roost. I've seen them on-and-off since.
