I never really pondered that, and frankly, while it might indeed be the case, it does not seem relevant. "Marriage" involves a legal
joining of two people, co-habitation is a simpler "agreement" kind of thing. Perhaps people simply living together should be treated the same as people who have some sort of "legal" union.
I seem to detect a tone in some replies here that insinuates my opposition to same sex marriage is somehow a foregone conclusion. "He is religious and he's conservative so he MUST be "one of them", "them" being the people supporters of gay marriage love to vilify.
