I think your objection to legalized gambling is too far off the grid.
All the casinos here in Michigan contribute mucho bucks to local and state coffers, including surcharges. The folks that use them are making their own choices, much like drugs and alcohol. Why shouldn't they happen?
Detroit is going down because of dysfunctional administrations, not the casinos.
To me, the "Moral Majority" is fighting a losing battle. Americans don't care if the Baptists won't drink, dance or smoke. Americans don't care if Catholics are against birth control or abortions.
We want the freedom of choice that the Bill of Rights and the Constitution provides.
Do I gamble? NO! Would I have an abortion? I really don't know, because I'm a thinking woman that has control over my reproductive rights. Would I do drugs? Possibly pot.
Get over imposing your beliefs on your neighbors. My mom used to say: "If they don't sleep in your bed, or pay your bills, MUCK'EM!"
