Yep...because the govt/military have to follow some semblance of rules as they may be. The Cartel..not so much.

Quite true. Plus the government and military ignored them for a long time. Mexico is one of the least safe places these days; didn't used to be that way!

My one neighbor in SoCA was from Mexico. The last time they visited there, they hired a bodyguard.

A lot of meth is in the smugglers mix these days. No strident rules about acquiring the raw ingredients in Mexico(you need an ID for some cold meds in the US), and theres a huge profit margin involved, meth is cheap to produce. Plus, unlike coca or weed, theres no growing and harvesting cycle, its just synthesized.

Yes, Meth is big business for the cartels, as well as locals. There was a raid recently that collected a couple hundred tons of the stuff!
