Couldn't agree more. I also work for a big Canadian engineering firm, and I'm a mechanical engineer. I work with structural engineers.

Fran, the people you know are ignorant. Without actually running the calculations, it's just a guess. "Hm, that building fell suspiciously, MUST HAVE BEEN A GIANT CONSPIRACY".

Please. The buildings were made of steel and concrete. Of course they can (and did) collapse. How do you think it should have collapsed Fran? Sideways? The laws of physics say that's far more unlikely. Watch a car crash into a solid concrete wall at 60mph. Does it crash at an angle? Remove one of the doors. Did that change the angle?

Next we'll hear how the Titanic, being unsinkable, MUST have involved a conspiracy.

I agree, and I think he should have been permanently banned for it. Would have done it if I could.

I don't like the idea of anyone being 'permanently banned.' People often get irrational and say things they wouldn't usually say in the heat of an argument but that doesn't mean they are bad people.

In a moderated forum, a person should at least be allowed to apologize for bad judgement before being bounced.

Otherwise, this place will be ruled by the emotional decisions of those in power, which is never a good thing.

You folks (mods) have your own internal communication channels, and normally discuss various member "issues" amongst yourselves, which is appropriate. Evidently, the banning of these two members was not discussed this time, eh?

As indicated in another thread, I wonder if the action taken was justified... Really none of my business, but if a member is banned, they should at least be given the specifics regarding the cause. Don't you agree?

I strongly disagree with banning anyone based an expressed opinion. Unfortunately it looks as though people who have been banned from here aren't banned for their words, but instead have been banned because they often disagree with the moderators.

I'm not a "regular" here, so I can only comment based on my limited experience from reading everyone's posts when I drop in.

The best internet forums (in my opinion) allow 'freedom of speech' as long the speech is not extremely abusive. And even then, it shouldn't result in the banning of people unless they are attempting to somehow disrupt the website.

Just my 2 cents.
