Is it normal that new stoves/ovens do not get delivered with power cords?

Got ours and no cord...and apparently others have told me same thing, that you buy a new one, the cord is not included/attached...

Hi,

All Canadian ranges come with cords.....as far as I know that most US ranges don't come with a range cord since they don't know if you have a 3 or 4 prong outlet....probably varies from State to State.

The 3 wire cords are for "grandfathered-in pre-1996NEC" circuits with 3 hole receptacles. 3 hole dryer and range receptacles don't meet the current code.
If it is a new circuit you must use the 4 hole receptacle and 4 wire cord.
If the existing receptacle is a 4 hole you must use a 4 wire cord.
If the existing receptacle is a 3 hole and installed when it was allowed then the cord can be a 3 wire.
There is a different installation method for each type of cord since the bonding jumper needs to be treated differently depending on if its a 3 wire or 4 wire cord.
