You can get both synthetic and conventional oils for water or air cooled. You will need, for that outboard, a water cooled 2 cycle engine oil. It will probably include the picture of an outboard on it.

I believe (CC can advise more properly) you want an oil rated TCW3.

The stuff I'm currently using is OMC 2 cycle for lawn mowers. I got a few new unopened bottles from work that were being disposed of do to the machines being gone.
I also have a large stock of 50:1 Motomaster snowmobile oil. It says for low temperatures and meets API TC specs and not to use it outboard motors.

Your oils, Jdevlin, are for Aircooled. Just what you need. TC is "two cycle". TWC is two cycle water cooled.

Checked last night. The oil we're using now is Marine 2 cyl., but TheBrit said we just started using it on the last tankful. Oh well, new plugs for the spring and we'll give'er a go.

Jason pretty well summed things up.

I use three oils...

First, the TC-W3 for all marine applications.

Second, both mineral and synthetic oil specifically for sleds - these have low temp (-40F) capabilities. I use both as one of my sleds needs the synthetic, the other four get the "cheap stuff".

Third, whatever I can find for regular 2-strokes. The TC class IIRC.

But the key reason I asked above what oil you were using was because the various applications (marine, sled, utility) all should use different oils...

UhOhh... Does that mean our newish 2 cyl snow thrower should have a "cold weather" mix?

Jeesch, methinks we have too many machines. smile

Your snowthrower will be fine with utility 2 cycle oil. The difference between a 5hp 2 cycle blower engine and a 50hp sled engine are vast.
