i'm still lurking here but judging from the last 2 pics it appears that the bow is uniform from one side to the other. As said before, like something leaned on it, or it has settled in one direction, or prevailing winds have pushed it on that direction.

IF the above is to be assumed - that it shifted over time, then the slack and space will be available in the miscellaneous boards and sheets - the spaces were made as it shifted - and it could be pulled back to straight gently over time.

IF the structure was built in that manner then nothing short of destruction/reconstruction will straighten it.

You avoided the 'Yes or No' answer, so we're even !

Guess I was so crabby about your not answering a direct question, I didn't even realize you were asking me what my opinion was. Seems I was pretty clear in all of my posts. I've said all along that if the sheets were nailed onto the trusses when the bow was in place, that I didn't agree you could pull and keep it in the right place. Clear 'nuff? wink

And FWIW... Never heard of welding up rebar & using turnbuckles to pull a wall like this. It'd be cables / come-a-longs and wood to hold it, IF it came to the right spot 'round here.

KR - I think everyone who posted was trying to help. Just different opinions on how.

our barn has heavy steel rods in the corners to help hold them straight - exactly like rebar but without the ribs. probably the steel used to wrap silo staves.

Can you put a string line on the front outside or on the back inside and determine the exact amount that it's bowed?

Also, how are the trusses attached to the top plate? Are ther hurricane ties or metal straps?

I think I can make a suggestion on how to "fix" that without removing all the plywood and save you all the effort of removing the plywood and no, I don't think it can be winched back.

Have you decided on a plan?

There is no sag to speak of. Just looks like that in the photo. The bow is all that is there. Its between 4 and 5" . I have measured this 3 times now in many locations.

The rafters are toe nailed. All that is required here.

No plan, Just reading up on comments until I get some help and then we will tackle it however seems to be practical. really just waiting for a good stretch of no rain and some decent weather. Its starting to get colder now so we need to get on it. I dont wnt to be out there in the subfreezing temps, Nothing I hate worse. well 108 on a roof insulation deal this summer might have been worse. lol

Ho-kay... Just looks like it... Got it.

And yeah, insulating in the hot/humid part of summer kinda SUCKS.

Are you going to try to winch it into alignment?

Is that front 32' across? Sure doesn't look like it. Photos can be misleading.

This column for example has a notch of about 11-1/4 inches, looks a lot more than that doesn't it?
