The urinal in the building that I do general maintenance for will not stop running/flushing. I have "fixed" and refixed it a few times and eventually it has gone back to the same pattern. I have replaced the diaphragm and associated hardware as well as the hardware with the flush valve itself, have experimented with different pressure settings, and still after a while something jams up and it will not stop its flush cycle. I feel like I've tried everything - is there something that I'm missing? Any input or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

A sloan valve??

Are you using Gen-U-ine sloan parts??

Is the diaphragm assembly reasonably loose when you set it in ....??
(The clearance between the valve and the brass body??)

If it's an older valve, the brass builds up a coating and won't
allow the diaphragm assy to move up and down......

Try cleaning (wire brush or whatever) the inside diameter of the hole the
diaphragm body sets in to.........

Thank you for the input.
Well, I took some steel wool and wire brush to the body like you recommended and, like before, i got it flushing normally a few times before it wouldn't stop running again. Something is impeding the diaphragm from reseating itself and I just can't figure out what it would be. It's not like it's old crusty plumbing. Everything is relatively new and in good shape...

BTW it is a Sloan valve and I have replaced it with genuine Sloan parts...
???

Did you replace the vacuum breaker and handle kits? Remember to clean the vacuum breaker holes in the chrome when you do that.

If it flushed a few times in a row, then ran,
I'd be inclined to think it was lower pressure supply
after the flushings......

or, possibly, the internal parts are for a different model (toilet Vs urinal)

RADDOG -

Please contact Sloan Technical @ 888.756.2614 and we will help you resolve the problem. I would recommend contacting us from the jobsite so that we may trouble shoot over the phone.

We would like to work with the valve in order to offer the best solution as quickly as possible. There have been some great suggestions offered already but unfortunately the problem hasn't been resolved. I'm sure if we are able to take care of it, RADDOG2020 will post how it was fixed.
Some questions will be...
Water pressure? Are there other valves? Was the A71 inside cover checked or replaced?

Good call AD...you may have helped without directly knowing it...seeing how Mr. Sloan popped up himself.

Sometimes these valves whether Sloan, Zurn, etc, can be temperamental. It is good to contact the best.

We will be anxious to hear what the OP found out.
