When I turn up the gas knob, both the blue cones and the tips get longer and the tips extend out across the width of the oven

The blue flame cones are about 1 - 1-1/2 inches long (and barely extend past the burner flange when turned up all the way) but the orange/yellow tips extend all the way across the floor of the oven and I am guessing that this is normal...

Is this correct?

Flames shouldn't be larger than the flame spreader/deflector ( #219 )...

The flames extend across almost the whole width of the floor of the oven.
What would cause this and how can I correct it?

thanks

Wider than the flame spreader?

The blue cones are not longer than flame spreader, but the ornage tips are wider than the flame spreader...

Good.
Try adding a little air with the shutter...some oranage tips on LP is normal.

Thanks Jeff-

Yes the blue tips do not extend past the spreader but is it OK if the orange tips extend
across (under the oven floor pan) nearly the full width of the oven floor?

How long should the orange tips be at their longest?

I would -try- adjusting to limit them to a minimum...often an inch past the blue flame.

The only adjustment for the oven is the air shuttle isn't it? I was messing with that to get rid of the lifting and not sure if I have much other adjustment in that unless there is something else I can adjust...

I will try to get them as small as possible but is it unsafe to use if the orange flames extend out 3 -4 inches past the blue cones?
