I have had this water softener for about 6-8 years I believe and have always felt it ran too often. There is only myself and my wife in our house and I would like to set it accordingly.

There are several dials and the instructions are greek to me.

Can anyone who knws how to set these help me set it to the proper settings

Thanks

I don't have one myself, but maybe someone else can help you with the settings. Setting the time of day seems simple enough, but I'm not sure of the small one on the right.
I'm curious how you came to buy that particular brand. I Googled it and came up with nothing as far as the whole softener goes. It appears Park International makes the inner core, and someone else puts the rest of it together.

It is a 1.0 cuft softener with a Park mineral tank and Fleck metered 2510 control valve (good equipment, but a Clack WS-1 is much better). To set it go to my web site and find the sizing page and follow the math. You'll need current hardness and iron tests if you have your own well. If you have city water you need to use the highest hardness figure in your city water system.

Gary,
Thanks for the info but I looked at it and it's all greek to me( way above my head) would it be possible for you to ask me the questions you need answered to help me set the dials to the correct settings. If I know what you need to know I can call my city office and find out the answers.

I would appreciate you help, right now I knowit is running too often and it is making my water bill much higher I think..

let me know if you are willing to help me

Thanks

I can't tell you everything in a post. Call the water company or go to their web site and find their Water Quality Report and find hardness or total hardness. They usually have the low, average and highest figures, you need the highest. Then call me when you can be at the softener but... a 1' softener may be too small to have it regenerate less frequently.

I'm sorry to have to post this but keep in mind this is ONLY my opinion

Gary offered to help me and asked me to call him with some hardness figures, I did this and what I got was the rudest person I have ever spoke to on the phone. In MY opinion if you want help from Gary be perpared to be lectured and belittled. he is the most arrogant person I have ever spoke to.

I know this will upset some of you who know and like him but that was my experience with him.

If he wanted to help he would cool his jets and stop telling me how much he knows and try to help..

I hope nobody else has to experience this from him

He just hung up on me saying rather than suffer my rudeness he would call someone out... We were on the phone about 20 minutes.

Above and on the phone he says this stuff is over his head, and he's right. So I offer to help him free of charge and he doesn't want to listen to what I tell him, he wants to talk when I'm talking and jump ahead instead of allowing me to tell him what to do.

At the end I mentioned taking the pin wheel off the timer so he starts to do it and I said NO, unplug the control first. He doesn't know what would happen had he moved the wheel with power to the control, I do. I waited 2-3 minutes after he hung up and I called him back, he wouldn't answer, so he's on his ungrateful own with a setting changed on his control and the meter cable out of the meter and he doesn't have the data I wrote down to give him later to change his salt dose that is currently set at 12 lbs. and should be 3 lbs.. Here and on the phone he says he thinks it regenerates too frequently but when asked he doesn't know how frequently it regenerates!

I guess he didn't see that he was being rude to me by not listening and then talking when I was talking. To me he was a regular guy in over is head, he was nervous and anxious and like thousands of others I've helped once they calm down and give me control of the conversation and then listen. Only then can we act as a team solving 'his' problem on my dime and free of charge to him.
