i have a 12K generac gardian that has been working for more than a year(works off propane) --starts up on outage and transfers--but the other day the power went out and the generator didn't start--i went ti check an saw the OVERSPEED LED ON
i reset the alarm and the generator statred no problem and tranfered and ran for a hour until the power came on
we had been away on vac and maybe on one of the exercise startups something happened

is the overspeed alarm assoc with inc rpm or a high voltage reading-this is the first time this has done this in a year and a half

thanks lou

Was it over speed or over crank? I don't know the generac units but my big deisel units at work will "over crank alarm" if they don't actually start.

If the unit won't start it is obviously not a real overspeed condition.
Before I did ANYTHING I would call Generac's tech support. Especially for such a new unit.
I had a similar condition on a 25Kw Winco and it was a bad ground in the alarm/sensor circuit.

I must say, one of the reasons I steer folks away from Generac is their poor customer service.

Do us (me) a favor and let us know how it turns out. I am curious to hear.
