I prefer to have any metal spinning at high speed close to my face head neck chest and arms to be of the highest quality and stay away from the cheap stuff that in my mind could potentially come apart at the wrong time. Cheap insurance in my book.

While we're on the subject, what, in your opinion(s), is the best brand of router bits regardless of price?

Whiteside is the king of the hill from my experience. That's not to say that others don't also make very high quality bits. CMT, Amana and Freud are some other brands that also rank near the top when different bits are reviewed.

A good quality bit will cost you a little more but the payback in longevity more than makes up for the extra cost in my opinion. Holbren is where I ordered my last Whiteside bits from. I had been getting them somewhere else but since Holbren started handling the Whiteside line his prices are as good as I've seen and Holbren never charges you freight. I don't want to turn this into a commercial for Holbren but their house brand also gets high marks from users.
