Device Manager shows modem and is working properly
Had the Trojan Horse Virus, but ran the cleaners and show no more according to AVG, and Symantec.
But the IP software cannot find a modem, so I went thru the control panel to make an Internet Connection manualy.
When I got tothe screen to selct the connection, Dial up Moden and Broadband was grayed out I am not able to select it.
Any advice where to go from here?
Tahnks
Daryl

Modem is installed but not available in modem list in Dialer

On Windows XP, Windows 2000, and some specific modems, a modem can be installed and visible in the Modem Control Panel but not available for dialing. This is because the modem was not connected or powered on at boot time.

To remedy, power on the modem and reboot.

I had that same problem this week and mysteriously it fixed itself when I removed a game CD from the CD drive... I'm not about to try to reproduce the problem but there seems to be odd corelation problems occurring under XP that I didn't have under 2000 Pro.
Go figure!

Hope you are not running two Anti-virus programs ie both AVG and Symantec (Nortons) at the same time, as that can really cause conflicts.
