carrfamilynj Carpal Tunnel Registered: 09/21/03 Posts: 2567 Loc: South Jersey Shore	I can't adjust the volume on my Compaq EVO N600C laptop pc. The up/down adjust buttons don't work, and the volume icon doesn't show up in the taskbar, even with that option checked in audio properties. The volume is at a constant, about 25% volume. It worked fine up to today. XP PRO

RobHamilton Handyman Registered: 01/18/03 Posts: 1141	Sounds like a driver problem. The buttons use what's called ACPI to control the volume, and once in awhile will have issues. Have you tried a cold reboot? (Shut the computer down and then restart as opposed to a simple restart). In Windows XP, the volume control is available from the Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices; place a check-mark by the Place Volume in Task bar.
