I had a real nice 2003 Silverado, and when gas got to about $1.75 I got nervous and traded it for a Malibu Maxx which I still have. It's great at about 25 MPG all the time. But I just couldn't survive without a truck, so I got another. It gets HORRIBLE mileage. I'm happy when I break 12 MPG with it, but it's for my many home improvement projects and my part time gig. Thank goodness for that Malibu.

It's fine if you need one. If I did I would. But to own one to drive to work every day the same as you can with something more economical and do everyday running around that doesn't entail you to need the bed,it just doesn't make sense to me.
I know this guy that just had to have a truck. He bought at a dealer auction thru a friend, drove it to work for a week, put over $60 worth of gas in it,and now it sits in his driveway. Nice looking vehicle,Dodge with a Hemi in it. Guess that caught his eye before thinking about what it would cost to drive it. I tried to tell him!!!!

the van and trailer have been taken on its first trip of 1000 miles, loaded with furniture going and empty coming back. average gas mileage was around 10. no stability or handling problems. I always looked well ahead to anticipate the need to slow down or braking and in many cases just taking my foot off the gas was enough to slow it down with the trailer slowing the van down. the height of the trailer is only 5 feet and presented problems with furniture. I may try to trade the trailer for a smaller one.
