repairit Thanks for the link for the ellipse. The mind tends to forget things.
Thank you for the help. I will make test rockers and go from there. I will post when I complete it or if I run into a problem.

The rockers here seem to be arcs with an 83" radius. Whatever shape works for you, magoo, try to make the rockers identical or the cradle will shift around on the floor while somebody is rocking it.

I too seen that the plans called for a radius. A standard radius would have been fine if the rockers were left orientated as the picture shows. If a weight shift occurs from head to foot, on the original design, the cradle would simply ride high one way or another. If the rockers are mounted across the narrow dimension a weight shift from left to right would cause the cradle to roll over until it hit the stops built onto the rockers and remain there if left unattended.

I'd lean twards an elliptical design where gravity would hold the cradle to center. Any weight shift left to right may make the cradle wain, but wouldn't roll over because of the nature of the ellipse.

Because the baby can roll to one side in a cradle! And the elliptical shape forces a slow down and maybe a rock back to center.

It's damn good visualization and thinking the thing over! Well done, repairit!! I'm wanting to add something, but you nailed it!

At least it's something to keep in mind in the trial and error stage of finding the correct length and shape.

As you stated, a larger radius may work too, it will shorten the "stroke" of the rocking motion as it hits the stops on the end of the rockers.

Thanks for the kudos. If I grab at enough rings, I'm bound to get one now and again.
