Oh comon Daniel you can't seriously believe that.
If perception = reality that would be no divorces.
The problem lies in distinguishing between the two.

Of what earth shaking significance is it if someone in power has a shirt buttoned wrong? NONE, it's minutia.

The President of the United States is argueably the toughest job in the world, and Mr. Bush has been at it for awhile now. ANY President comes into office facing events unkown in the future and will, without doubt, make some unhappy in the manner he deals with those event, no question about that. The FACT remains that a GREAT MANY Americans have faith in President Bush, and that just chafes the left no end.
But don't take my word for it, Zogby is an experienced, unbiased, and highly respected polling operation.

Zogby America Poll. Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2005. N=1,004 likely voters nationwide. MoE ± 3.2. .

"Is your overall opinion of George W. Bush very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable, or very unfavorable, or you are not familiar enough to form an opinion?"

ok...you like to be different.

I'm just stating the obvious.
The man' and his handlers are a comedy of gaffs and that simply adds to the man's incredible projection of brilliance.

Odd to be defined as "different" when you share the same view as about 140 MILLION other Americans.

You know what I mean, The guy comes across as a buffoon, a guy who can't button his shirt straight for a very serious speech, and worse probably his handlers dared not approach him to tell him...

I do indeed understand what you are saying, it's simply that I'm a "results" kind of guy, I place little or no importance in "appearances". Cripes, some on here may remember when President Ford slipped and fell getting off Air Force One, the guy was lambasted as "can't walk and chew gum", that sort of crap.
So many waiting to pounce on the most insignificant of things because they believe it somehow adds credibility to their viewpoint and agenda.

Results.....promised WMD discoveries are missing.....the
promise of a $2B-2-month war missing, a triilion
spent for a few percent GDP and lower real middle class
income, big cuts in higher ed. spending and more coming,
blocking biotech initiatives and losing ground to S.Korea
and Switzerland, the falling test scores of charter schools,
the "no child left behind" initiative and its soggy resuls,
FEMA cuts and blockaages of aid and late-late deliveries...
...the male prostitues faking propaganda using my tax money...
....the odd Intelligent Design manipulations and research
cuts as we lose our biotech crown.......exploding debt,
transfer of taxes to regressive 'fees'.

AAAAH! Yes, the results: dismal. Thanks for the reminder.

The left doesn't influence me too much; mainly
the Theocracy/Corpocracy/Cronyocracy/Neo-Con "results".
If one is "fact-oriented", results are awful.

I'm not into dressing.

Arabs do not want the American way of life.
Duh...after spending so much resources, $1B/day and counting plus ongoing casualties, here is the new Iraqi Constitution, article 7 starts with "Islam is the official religion of the State and is to be considered a source of legislation."! There goes Q, comes N for Iran and granddaddy of all mess!!!
You're doing a heck of a job Mr. President.

Despotic dictator who was KNOWN to be in posession of WMD's and to have used them against women and children......captured and his scumbag kids dead.

Taliban in Afganistan....removed from power

No major terrorist attacks since 9/11....

American workers with the DESIRE to work have plenty of employment....

Booming housing market....

Low interest rates....

ALL volunteer military.....

Stores full of merchandise, gasoline stations awash in fuel, infrastructure of America getting rebuilt, Gulf Coast recovery underway, plenty of Social programs in place for those in NEED, minorities advancing at the higest levels of Goverment, lowest crime rate in decades, SS alive and well and handing out the checks, Medicare/ Medicade in place and functioning.....
Yeah, things are REAL REAL bad here, how DO we tolerate this?.........

Goodness, much of what you mentionned is either in woprse shape than 5 years ago or in worse shape than other countries.

And these two notables, Booming housing market and low interest rates are about to bite you in the ass so hard, it will make 1982 and other recessions look like a fairy tale.

What's a cord of wood go for in your area? Close to a couple hundred? Ours has doubled in a few years to nearly $C100 or $US85.

What about lumber, since Canadian lumber is being taxed at the border destroying the free market for lumber in the US leaving US producers free reign to over price... gouging? don't know 4 sure.

So your basic necessities like energy, housing (building supplies etc), and soon all imports , ie everything you buy at Wal-Mart, will have increased significantly and historically between 2000-2008.

Yeah...prices of all the things you mentioned held rock steady from the mid-1800's until 2000, how could I have forgotten that?

We're a bunch of fat rats folks, maybe we don't have it easy, maybe things ain't perfect, but WE'VE GOT IT GOOD. If folks spent 1/100th the time counting their blessings and enjoying the gift that EACH AND EVERY day of life is, maybe lame duck Presidents in mis-buttoned shirts would take on a different perspective....
