Looking for some ideas for edging plants , you know the close coupling type something to crowd out the weeds between the shrubs and annual flowering plants.
Have a lot of lavender plants with big gaps between, using tree bark but after three years it decomposes into soil.

How high do you want yopur edging plants Boat?? Two of my favorites are lower plants, but are GREAT at weed control....but must be "tamed" a bit.

These plants are: Snow In Summer and Miniature Carnations.

Try Daylillies. They are low maintaince, grow in sun or shade and multiply so you can reach a lot of area at low cost!!

i have lavender and they filled in. no spaces between and i planted them far apart. i also wanted to put something between them, but i'm glad i didn't now. how old are your lavenders. (as old as the bark, 3yrs?) if so, i wonder why urs haven't grown. mmmmm i have to prune mine back again. you could put geraniums between them. that WAS my plan. in colors to complement the purple colors.

Lynne. Height no more than 6" dense coverage all year round cover / bit of color -- Snow in Summer -- looks promising are there various colors.
Miniature Carnations can you post a link all i get are doll house flowers 2" tall??.

Shell 33 Have day lillies in other parts of the garden + Iris / Crocosmia Jupiter to tall.

rfm3 Pachysandra good ground cover for large bare spots but over powering for between plants as in my case, hate weeding.

My MISTAKE i said "LAVENDER" plants should have said "DIANTHUS" which are smaller than lavender, they have a wide top and a narrow bottom meaning weed seeds take over underneath quickly. Will fran ever forgive me.?

I find that thyme (sp)works really well, it is ground cover with very small purple flowers and it has a really nice purfume when you touch it. It also grows in sun and shade
