In reply to:

My circular saw.... It scares me , mainly because of the stories about how they kick back.

Don't overtighten the blade and it'll slip rather than kick back. (most of the time... dont' go and throw caution into the wind or anything)

My electric hedge trimmer. Cut three 50 ft. cords the first year I owned it, so I donated it to a neighbor I don't like.

This POS (not point of sale). Thought it would really be useful, luckily I realized it on first use and packed it up and it went back 20 minutes later. I don't buy B&D anything but I guess that was a brain dead moment.

I heard that ....that....... can be one heck
of good tree limb pruner.....and the wife of a friend..can swear
to its use..
On the subject of BD...I still own a little BD orbital sander gifted to be many...many......many years ago for Christmas...
Dont know why...but it doesnt seem to want to die...?
I have had to replace the foot pad...and have dropped it more
than I would care to admit... Keeps on Keep-In On...
while many of my more expensive... better ? brand names have given out and went on to the big tool bin in the...DIY
I honestly think..this little BD.. still.. has a Whole lot of Shaking..
.......left ......Goin On..
Strange also being....is I have a little electric BD weed whip..
the string guard was broken off and it looked in pretty bad shape....and itwas being tossed out
in the garbage.....That was in 1990...and after I rescued it...
its been a whippin... takin a lickin....ever since..
The only thing I have had to replace has been the line spool..and feed spring.... I had only thought it had a little life left...and dang if it hasnt hung around..... whippin and a whippin...Go figure..?
I wonder about others tools...longevity and use..
Like I have said before.. I cut my teeth as a carpenter..on a Skillsaw.... Best Tool I own !!!!
...Makita, Craftsmen Porter Cable and a host of others... While I have handled and used.them (saws)
.. I still LOVE my model 77.Skillsaws...
. OVER... all the rest...
Bosch... makes the most lovely jig/scroll saw I have ever used..
Makita makes one of the finest beam / rafter cutting saws I have ever handled and used...
Well... what has this to do with the most useless tool..???
Tink...? we should make a new post on the one tool you would
pick... Over ALL the ones you have and why..? How long have you owned it.. how often to you use it... etc...
On the handy man forum.. there had been a question as to what is better..?...of more value ?.... more useful ? A table saw.?. or a radial arm saw ?... I would say BOTH.. are of equal value depending on... what DIY project one is undertaking...
If you ever have tried to run a siding job.. of any size..using a sliding miter saw... compared to a full table setup outside on the jobsite ....and using a radial arm...Or racking up 2x stock..cutting 8 cripples with one pass..on a radial...Oh well.. too much tinking
too early in the moooorning....
