Anybody out there ever seen a password protected thermostat? Or maybe one that's so difficult to operate without the directions that my tech savey daughter wouldn't be able to figure it out? She's always turning it way up but never "remembers" to turn it down.

I know I could get an enclosure and lock that up but my wife would never go for the decor.

White Rodgers makes a tamperproof programmable t'stat, model 1F85-275, Robert Shaw has a 300 series line of programmable t'stats with lockable keypads and doors, and I'm sure others are available. The only problems I found were the cost, and the fact that you might need your daughter to help explain the programming instrutions.
Have you considered just locking her in her room?

if life is that bad .......then get an acustat installed. No playing with those. They come at a set temp and you cannot adjust them.
