Does anyone know the specs for adjusting the valves on a 17HP Tecumseh engine with OHV's? Are the intake and exhaust the same clearance?

May I also "ADD" to Bob's comment...Piston at TDC on the
compression stroke where BOTH valves are closed, .004 on
each valve. If clearances ARE correct and engine will not
spin thru the compression stroke without laboring....the
camshaft most likely needs replacing (36533A). The MCR
(mechanical compression release) is NOT WORKING and this
has been an "issue" on some 17 and 17.5HP OHV engines.

Thanks for the info. I think the cam is ok because the rocker arm stud broke on the intake side, but the exhaust side was working fine and the intake vavle did not feel stuck or anything. I will keep that info in mind when I have adjusted the vavles; if there are any problems getting it started.
