I have done a little welding years ago but never had any training. I just got a new Lincoln AC225 stick welder and am about to replace the radiator support in my '98 Nissan Altima. Basically just numerous small spotwelds. I'm not sure what gauge the radiator support is but it's as thin as 2 sheets of paper.
Any suggestions as to what diameter rods and amp setting to use?

**Crashing my car was a great excuse to go and buy an arc welder

Sorry to burst your bubble but I wouldnt use a stick welder on the car. If your talking about welding the radiator itself youll have to use a torch and solder. If its actually the sheetmetal on the car a MIG welder is whats needed. Hope this helps.

Exactly. A mig or another spot wleder is required.
I have done quite a bit of stick welding around the house/shop/car and I could never manage to weld sheet decently. Even with super thin, expensive rods.

No, I didn't mention the radiator. Another common name for the radiator support is the core support.

I'm gonna try it anyway. I'll practice on the old one first. I'll post back when I'm done. Gotta primer the new one tommorrow.

Disconnect the battery, both terminals, arcs and sparks can create havoc with electronics.
